AQUì NO PINTO NADA
Galeria LA PUNTUAL, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona
09/2017 - 10/2017

"Aquí no pinto nada" is about Saverio Tonoli's last painting, Azoth Nebula, a large format piece which starts from the observation of mould in different elements collected by the artist, such as fruit, meat or cereals. The watercolours, part of the Coffe variations (2015), mix together coffee and pigments and permits us to draw a bridge within the work made from Saverio during the last years.  A site-specific work on the walls of La Puntual accompains the painting, using the existing elements as a starting point and doing so, integrating the space of the gallery in his own work.

Azoth is one of the many names used in the alchemic language to address the living essence of matter: the spark in matter which makes the renovation and improvement possible. The polyptych stems out of a study series on mould, observing rotting vegetables, corns and meat, from which I was abstracting the essence of colours, movements and texture. The painting size suggests a mould-inspired landscape, arranged so that the shifted cuts between the canvas modules break the chaotic washes of colours, as time had been passing in between.
